Partial Hospitalization Program — the most intensive outpatient level of care

PHP — Partial Hospitalization Program — is a structured, intensive treatment program for adults who need daily clinical support but don't require 24-hour residential care. You attend treatment 5 days a week, 5–6 hours per day, then return home each evening.

PHP is typically the right starting point for adults coming out of detox, stepping down from inpatient care, or entering treatment for the first time with moderate to severe substance use disorders. It delivers intensive, evidence-based treatment while you remain in your own community.

🌿 In-Person, Virtual, or Blended — Your Choice

We believe in-person community creates the strongest recovery foundation. That said, we offer virtual groups and blended schedules for those in rural areas or with demanding work and family commitments. We'll work with you to find the right format from day one.

PHP is the right level of care if…

PHP is designed for adults who need intensive daily support but are stable enough to live outside a residential facility. Signs PHP may be right for you:

🏥

Coming out of detox or inpatient

You've completed medical detox or a residential program and need continued intensive structure to build on that foundation.

🌊

Moderate to severe substance use

Your use has significantly impacted your work, relationships, or health and you need more than once-a-week therapy to stabilize.

🧠

Co-occurring mental health needs

You're managing depression, anxiety, PTSD, or another condition alongside substance use and need daily clinical oversight.

🏠

Stable enough to live at home

You have a stable, sober-supportive living environment — or access to Revive Recovery Homes — and don't require 24-hour medical supervision.

🔄

Previous treatment & relapse

You've tried outpatient before and found it wasn't intensive enough. PHP provides the daily structure and accountability that makes the difference.

🌱

Ready to commit to real change

You're ready to go all-in — 5 days a week, full engagement. PHP works when you show up and do the work alongside a team that believes in you.

PHP — Frequently Asked Questions

Does PHP require me to live at the treatment facility?

No. PHP is outpatient — you attend treatment 5 days/week during the day and return home each evening. You can live at home, with family, or at a sober living like Revive Recovery Homes. You are not admitted overnight.

Is PHP covered by insurance?

Yes — PHP is a covered level of care under most major insurance plans when clinically appropriate. We provide free insurance verification before you commit to anything. Call (512) 557-7832 or visit our insurance page.

What's the difference between PHP and IOP?

PHP is more intensive — 5 days/week, 5–6 hours/day. IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program) is the next step down — typically 3 days/week, 3 hours/day. Most clients begin in PHP and transition to IOP as they stabilize and build their recovery foundation.

Can I work while attending PHP?

It's challenging to maintain full-time work during PHP given the 5-day, 5–6 hour commitment. Some clients take FMLA leave, reduce hours, or work in the evenings. We can discuss scheduling options to find what's realistic for your situation.

How quickly can I start PHP at Deep Roots Recovery?

Same-day and next-day starts are often available. Call (512) 557-7832 — our team will complete a brief phone assessment and verify your insurance, often within the hour.
